2 month check-up

Lydia had her 2 month check-up on June 26. She weighed 13lb 3oz (90th percentile), and she is 23 inches tall (75th percentile). It's still a little too soon to tell, but she might be taking after her dad who is 6'4'' rather than her mom, who is 5'1''. Both of her parents went to the doctor appointment. Her dad was the brave one who held her hand while she got her immunizations as her mom tried to hold back the tears and prepared to nurse her immediately after it was all over. The doctor said Lydia is a healthy baby girl! We are so blessed!!!

White's Farm Flea Market

Lydia went to her first flea market in Brookville, Indiana. Lydia's grandma Lori used to take Daddy, Aunt Krissy, Uncle Zak, and cousin Nicole to the White's Farm Flea Market when they were young. We wished Daddy could have gone with us, but we still had fun with the rest of the flea market gang.
Here's a picture of Lydia with Aunt Krissy, Cousin Nicole, Uncle Zak and Cece.

Picnic at Winton Woods

Lydia went on her first picnic with Uncle Zak and C.C. at Winton Woods park. C.C. packed us a delicious lunch, and then Uncle Zak pushed Lydia in her stroller as we took a walk around the lake. It was a fabulous afternoon!

Tummy Time

Lydia has been working on holding her head up. She is getting very good, and over the past couple days she has been trying to sit up on her own it seems. I keep asking her, "Who told you that you could grow up?"

Bath time fun

It's fun to play with Lydia's hair after bath time.

Dress-up

A couple weeks ago, Lydia was playing dress-up with Aunt Krissy's sunglasses.

Okay, so maybe the adults were enjoying it a little more than Lydia. But soon, Lydia will love playing dress-up with Aunt Krissy's things!

Meeting Harper

I have been incredibly blessed with a life-long friend, literally! Elise was born almost exactly two months after me. She has stuck beside me and loved me ever since, through my ups and downs as a child, an adolescent, and as an adult, which is the definition of family. We have shared so much together that it was both shocking and yet completely fitting that our first-born children had the exact same due date!

These pictures were taken from our first play date (although, they didn't really play, they just ate and slept). Harper and Lydia were 2-3 weeks old.

This was our second "eat-and-sleep date". Here they are about 4-5 weeks old.

I have loved sharing my life with Elise, and I feel so blessed that we get to raise our children together!

First Hug

Aunt Cassie kept asking Lydia to give her a hug. Then Lydia figured out what a "hug" was and happily obliged.

Family pics

This was our first family outing. Lydia was two weeks old, and we took a little walk around Wyoming and had lunch at the Wyoming Meat Market.

This was Lydia's first time at LaRosa's.

afghan

This is one of Lydia's favorite blankets to cuddle up with. It's soft and warm and full of love because it was crocheted just for her by her Great Granny!

Sleep like a baby

Lydia has given me a whole new understanding to the cliche 'Sleep like a baby'.

Here are some pictures of Lydia "sleeping like a baby". I love her little arms!

Purple

13On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. 14One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message. 15When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. "If you consider me a believer in the Lord," she said, "come and stay at my house." And she persuaded us.
Acts 16:13-15

Before we even got pregnant, Josh and I agreed that we both liked the name 'Lydia'. We decided to look it up in the Bible, and I was surprised to find a woman named Lydia mentioned in the book of Acts. As you can read from the quote above, the Lydia from the Bible was a 'dealer in purple cloth'. So, we've been saying that purple is her color.

While it is true that Lydia looks very beautiful in purple, I have to say, we think she looks beautiful in all colors!

Lydia's Swing

I began this blog in order to let everyone who reads know how much Lydia loves to swing (and how much her mom likes the swing, too!).

However, after looking at these pictures, which are posted in chronological order, I realize this is also a blog about how much our little Lydia is growing! You can really tell if you look at where the top of her head hits the pillow.

This very moment is a seed from which the flowers of tomorrow's happiness grow.

How are you feeling today?

Sometimes Lydia falls asleep while she's eating. After she finishes, she lays in my arms asleep and proceeds to make faces of many different emotions. It reminds me of the following poster, "How are you feeling today?"

One evening, as Lydia was finishing up her third or fourth dinner of the evening, I saw the camera sitting on the table beside me, and I decided to try to catch my favorite emotion from Lydia on film, or digital recording, or whatever it is you call it these days. It took a few tries, but I finally succeeded in taking this picture:
