This was our first family outing. Lydia was two weeks old, and we took a little walk around Wyoming and had lunch at the Wyoming Meat Market.

Sleep like a baby

Lydia has given me a whole new understanding to the cliche 'Sleep like a baby'.

Purple

13On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. 14One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. Acts 16:13-15

Before we even got pregnant, Josh and I agreed that we both liked the name 'Lydia'. We decided to look it up in the Bible, and I was surprised to find a woman named Lydia mentioned in the book of Acts. As you can read from the quote above, the Lydia from the Bible was a 'dealer in purple cloth'. So, we've been saying that purple is her color.

While it is true that Lydia looks very beautiful in purple, I have to say, we think she looks beautiful in all colors!

Lydia's Swing

I began this blog in order to let everyone who reads know how much Lydia loves to swing (and how much her mom likes the swing, too!).

However, after looking at these pictures, which are posted in chronological order, I realize this is also a blog about how much our little Lydia is growing! You can really tell if you look at where the top of her head hits the pillow.

This very moment is a seed from which the flowers of tomorrow's happiness grow.

How are you feeling today?

Sometimes Lydia falls asleep while she's eating. After she finishes, she lays in my arms asleep and proceeds to make faces of many different emotions. It reminds me of the following poster, "How are you feeling today?"

One evening, as Lydia was finishing up her third or fourth dinner of the evening, I saw the camera sitting on the table beside me, and I decided to try to catch my favorite emotion from Lydia on film, or digital recording, or whatever it is you call it these days. It took a few tries, but I finally succeeded in taking this picture:
